Do you use one or more methodologies in your research in an area of social policy?

Would you like to give a talk to PhD students in social policy from across the UK?

The Social Policy Association is teaming up with the ESRC South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership to organise and deliver a ‘Social Policy Masterclass’ which will be open to all PhD students in social policy across the UK. The event will take place in person at the University of Southampton on 24th March 2026 between 10am-4pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

The event will focus on: “Research methods applied to social policy research”, and will be an opportunity for PhD students to hear from social policy experts at different stages of their career, in different substantive areas and using a range of research methods.

If you would like to contribute a 45-minute session to this event, please email Athina Vlachantoni at: a.vlachantoni@soton.ac.uk by Thursday 18th December 2025 with a provisional title and 3-4 sentences describing your talk. Expenses on travel and one night’s accommodation will be reimbursed up to £300. Confirmed speakers will be emailed in January 2026.
