There are 6 vacancies arising on the SPA executive committee, which meets quarterly and elected members are expected to attend and contribute to the ongoing activities of the committee. Executive committee members serve for a period of three years and are eligible to be nominated for a consecutive term, after which a period of three years must be lapsed before they are eligible to stand for election. Colleagues elected to the Executive committee become members of the Trustee Board of the SPA (charity no. 528347).
All meetings of the executive will be carried out in hybrid format making it possible to join the meeting remotely. This means that we also welcome applications from our international members. Travel, subsistence and childcare expenses associated with Executive meeting attendance are also covered.
You can find out about the different Executive portfolios through our website. We encourage this year any members who would be interested to support our Treasurer portfolio in particular as we say goodbye after July to our Treasurer Antonios Roumpakis, as well as someone to may be interested in supporting SPA events and shadowing our Teaching and Learning portfolio. However, even if interested in other items please do join us as all portfolios are flexible and mutually agreed with the Chair on joining the SPA Executive.
Applicants need to be members of the Social Policy Association and nominated by two members of the association. Applicants must complete a nomination form, which includes a 250-300 word statement. Please provide brief details of interests, experience and what you think you can bring to the SPA executive committee, and the names of a proposer and a seconder (both of whom must also be SPA members). The statement will form the basis of a short summary on the ballot form.
The deadline for nominations is 16th June, 2025.
Please send completed nomination forms to SPA Secretary, Vikki McCall, nominations@social-policy.org.uk
The elections will take place through the SPA’s online platform, SPA Online, and the results will be announced at the SPA AGM Wednesday 2nd July 2025, 5.30-6.30pm, University of York.
