SPA Members Appointed as Fellows to the Academy of Social Sciences

The Social Policy Association (SPA) is delighted to congratulate our members recognised by the Academy of Social Sciences for their outstanding contribution.

Ellen Stewart, Professor of Public Policy and Health at the University of Glasgow has made major contributions to social and health policy scholarship, especially the role that publics play in health systems. She has been at the forefront of inter-disciplinary collaborations bringing together qualitative social science, policy analysis and work to democratise complex computational modelling.

Stephen Sinclair, Professor of Social Policy at Glasgow Caledonian University has made major contributions to Social Policy research and scholarship and innovation by combining academic expertise with sustained public and policy engagement. Through his work he has extended the contribution of Social Policy Research to significantly impact policy and practice on poverty.

SPA Chair, Professor Ann Marie Gray said:

“We are delighted that these members of the Social Policy Association have been appointed Fellows of the Academy of Social Sciences. They have strongly and consistently promoted the value and importance of social policy research and impact and teaching and this is well deserved recognition of the excellence and value of their work”.

They are among seventy four new members elected to the Academy and we congratulate them all. Academy Fellows are conferred following an independent peer review process by the Academy’s Nominations Committee which recognises their excellence, impact, and wider contributions.
