SPA Teaching and Learning Roundtable Discussion ‘Social Policy Teaching in Higher Education: Challenges and Opportunities’ – online event on 18th April 2024

The SPA is running an online roundtable discussion on challenges and opportunities in social policy teaching and learning, following on from the launch of the latest report into the current state of social policy teaching that was published last year.

The session will take place on Thursday, 18th April 2024, from 15.00 to 16.30, via Zoom.

We will cover the following topics, in the form of short presentations and a Q&A as well as discussion segment:

  • Alessio D’Angelo (University of Derby; SPA Exec member) and Ruby Chau (University of Nottingham), co-authors of the 2023 report into social policy teaching: a discussion of key findings from the 2023 report, with a focus on common challenges across the sector
  • Richard Machin (Nottingham Trent University): an exploration of how social policy teaching relates to the skills and knowledge that social policy graduates need and that employers expect
  • Enrico Reuter (University of York, SPA Exec member): a reflection on challenges in social policy curriculum and learning design

All members of the SPA are much welcome, and we look forward to seeing many of you online on 18th April.

If you are interested in joining the online event, please register with your email address via this link. We will then circulate a Zoom link with login information shortly before the roundtable discussion.

With best wishes,

Enrico Reuter
