Venue access statement

The 2024 SPA conference is being held across three key sites. None of the venues have a ‘changing places’ toilet.

Access for each location is listed below:

Technology & Innovation Centre – Conference venue

There is level access to the building (Level 2 is the ground floor). Lift access is available to all floors.  All Auditoria have wheelchair spaces for those who would prefer not to transfer to a seat. All Auditoria and Conference Rooms are fitted with induction loops. There are accessible, gender-neutral toilets on all floors, which are signposted.

There are designated safe areas throughout the building for any delegates unable to evacuate using stairs in the event of an emergency.

Conference & Events Officers at TIC have received accessibility training and will be happy take delegates through our emergency arrangements in more detail, if appropriate. There will also be quiet spaces available for delegates.

The closest hotels are the Moxy Glasgow Merchant City on High Street and the Premier Inn on George Street, but as we are right in the heart of the city there is an abundance of hotels to suit every budget within walking distance. For further information, visit the People Make Glasgow website.

Glasgow City Chambers – Conference dinner, Thursday evening

There is level access to City Chambers (from the TIC building). Lift access available to all floors. Fire doors in use. Parking can be arranged for disabled visitors. Accessible toilets are on site.

Staff have undergone Accessible Tourism Training

Sloans – Conference ceilidh, Wednesday evening

Sloans is 0.6 miles/ 1km from the main venue, with walkway paths available for the whole route. The journey is approximately 5-10 minutes by taxi, there is no direct public transport.

There is no step free access to the ceilidh venue. There is one flight of steps with a handrail with no lift or elevator access. The main room for the ceilidh does not have an induction loop, and there are no accessible toilets.
