Call for Papers: 2nd ‘Race’ and Socially Engaged Research – Open and Inclusive Conference for PGRs and ECRs

This is an interdisciplinary PGR-led conference for researchers in the early career stages who conduct critical research pertaining to ‘race’, racialisation, racism, in a socially engaged, liberatory and/or transformative manner. This event is an opportunity to share research and scholar-activism in an accessible, ‘safe’ and critical space that centres community, joy and resistance. It is organised by the Anti-Racism Working Group (ARWG), a network of PhD students and staff based at the University of York and York St John University.

The theme for this year’s conference is Resistance, Joy and Community in Hostile Environments. It is scheduled to take place on 19th-20th June 2024 at the University of York, with an optional drinks reception following the first day entitled ‘Centring Relationality and Connectivity as a Decolonial Approach Within and Outside of Academia’, which will take place from 4:30pm – 6pm in Heslington Hall, University of York.

Full information, including a form for the call for papers and posters/visual displays can be found here.

The deadline for abstracts is 31st March 2024.
