Online Workshop Series: From Social Policy Benchmark Statement to Practice

Embedding the cross-cutting themes of the new QAA Social Policy Subject Benchmark Statement in teaching, curriculum and assessment

We are pleased to invite Social Policy educators and the wider academic community to a series of four online workshops. They create a space to exchange teaching and assessment practice, share practical examples, and reflect on how the revised benchmark’s themes can be put into everyday practice.

THE WORKSHOPS

1. Equality, diversity and inclusive curriculum design

Monday 2 November 2026, 13:00-14:30 (UK time)

2. Decolonisation and global perspectives in Social Policy

Wednesday 2 December 2026, 10:00-11:30 (UK time)

3. Sustainability, social futures and policy education

Tuesday 12 January 2027, 10:00-11:30 (UK time)

4. Employability, digital change and assessment design

Thursday 21 January 2027, 13:00-14:30 (UK time)

WHAT TO EXPECT

Each session combines short provocations, case-study sharing, small-group discussion and structured reflective exercises, drawing on practical examples from colleagues across the sector.

SHAPE THE GUIDE

With consent, participants’ examples and reflections will inform an open-access teaching and curriculum guide, published by Policy Press and launched at the SPA Conference 2027. There will also be opportunities to get involved in drafting the guide.
